ABOUT GLYS:
The GLYS mission is to provide an accepting environment to enhance the personal growth of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and questioning youth in Western New York. GLYS advocates for community awareness and acceptance of young people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

GLYS provides a safe and positive environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and questioning (GLBTQ) youth to learn more about themselves through peer interaction and educational experiences. The organization creates opportunities for emotional growth and community awareness.

WHY A FUNDRAISER?
GLYS provides after school programs and events for LGBTQ youth. Our WNY community has been greatly affected by the suicide of Jamey Rodemeyer, and although there is nothing that will change the suffering of this child or bring him back to his parents, family and friends, we can help make sure the resources are there to support other youth who may be struggling with bullying as a result of their sexual identity. Like many not-for-profits, GLYS is funded through grants and government resources that are often greatly affected by our economy - as the adults of the LGBTQ community and allies, we need to ensure that youth have this important resource.

Although Dykes of Hazard Variety Hour is known for our bawdy and irreverent humor, we also know that as an GLBT Performance Troupe we must do everything in our power to use that humor to support our community, raise awareness and bring LGBT and allies together to show our youth that they matter. This event will be an extended version of the Variety Hour, with multiple (more) youth friendly sketches, stand-up, dancers, singers and musicians. Included in the event are performances by DOH, Eric Lingenfelter, Matt Bergman, Kerry-Kate Abel, MC Xception and Drop D, Kristen Becker - and more adding!
