Tonight marks the third anniversary of the Dykes of Hazard monthly variety show at Babeville’s Ninth Ward. Dykes, a comedy/burlesque/music romp oft peppered with chats on fisting, pastied ladies, androgynous tap dancers, and folk songs about fcking, first brought their touring revue to the basement of Babeville in February 2010. The troupe, led by comedy impresario Kristen Becker, was recently signed to Neon Entertainment agency and recently showcased for the National Association for Campus Activities, an organization that books and promotes entertainment packages to universities and colleges nationwide.
Tonight’s anniversary show will feature original members Becker and Mark Ciemcioch, the group’s Token Straight Guy, actress and troupe member Erin Kirby, burlesque dancer Miss Ruby Sparkles, and newest troupe member, stand-up comedian Eric Lingenfelter, who took the writer’s seat for many of the sketches being performed tonight.
Have a hundred laughs and several brews at church tonight with the Dykes of Hazard Variety Show, 8 p.m., Babeville, 341 Delaware Ave., $10.
