Buffalo is on the cusp of an amazing time in the world of comedy, you guys! Buffalo’s only all-comedy website is looking for some vivacious, deadline-minded, dedicated staff to up their ante in writing, video production, and photography. There’s a super fun base of comedians here in our fine city, and we need YOUR talents to help progress some great ideas on the horizon. The work done for Buffalo Comedy is a labor of love (i.e. unpaid, and that includes your managing editor, me, writing this right now), but this opportunity is practically a clean slate for portfolio fattening. We do aspire to a little pay here and there, fingers crossed! You will be rewarded monetarily if and when that time does come. Still reading? Here are the specifics:
Do you love to write? Are you a journalist trying to find a niche in this crazy multimedia world? Every day of the week the city of Buffalo plays host to local, regional, and national comedic acts. Do you want to attend these shows and write about them? How about in-depth interviews with local personalities in the comedy scene? Or are you more of a content person? Love to write comedic prose? We want all of it. Interviews, reviews, previews, humor essays — all that all that.
Where my photogs at? Listen, I’ve been shooting comedy shows for about 7 years now. And you know what? I’m TERRIBLE. But SOMEONE should be capturing these magical, ridiculous nights. Could you PLEASE do it? Please. These amazing comics deserve more than the likes of me. I know a few brilliant influences in the world of comedy photography, and I’d love to chat with you about your work and show you theirs and see what kind of inspiration can be drawn from it all. Drop me a line.
Videographers (and post-production editors, and directors?): SO MANY fun video projects could be had, right here in Buffalo. And with the great luck we have living in the 21st century, these projects could spread WORLDWIDE. Let’s spend this winter getting cozy with cameras and lights and boom mics and monitors. Think webseries, 1 minute blasts of hilarity, short films. . . and whatever you’ve had up your sleeve.
If this seems like a thing you’d like to be a part of, for a little while or a long while, drop me a line at editor at buffalocomedy dot com. I can be found on the various social networks as Kristy Rock (@KristyRock, @BFLOCOMEDY). I’m hoping to chat with some of you IRL in the next few weeks, over tea or coffee or whiskey or whatever, and to look at some of your previous work. I’m located in Elmwood Village, but can travel allllll over (preferably in a 2 mile radius of my home. . .. Just kidding but not really).
