Auditions for “Nameless!” Comedy This Sunday — ANNOUNCEMENT

namelessLooking for some new cool cats to play with this summer? “Nameless!” Comedy, a comedy production outfit in Jamestown, NY, is holding auditions this Sunday, May 4, and next Wednesday, May 7. They are looking to build out their cast for the third season of their production repertoire, which includes video and music in addition to live performance throughout the Western New York region.

A scant 1.5 hour drive southwest of Buffalo, Jamestown is home of the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival (August 6-10 this year). The “Nameless!” troupe has been operating out of this home base for a few years, after beginning as an open run show in Louisiana in 2000. Past cast members have gone onto perform at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles, found theatres in New Orleans and Austin, TX, and appear on various television shows, said “Nameless!” co-founder Conor McGibboney.

Performers interested in joining the cast should expect to play a variety of improv games at audition, and be able to commit to rehearsal once a week and perform once a week from mid-July to mid-August. Cast members are also encouraged to write skits, songs, or “general silly things,” McGibboney said. “Think of ‘Nameless!’ as an environment to be silly or seriously silly, a production laboratory if you will,” he said.

After a solid spring of rehearsal, “Nameless!” plans to open Season 3 here in Buffalo with a headlining show at Ryu-Kon 2014 (Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, July 18-20), followed by six weeks of shows in the region, McGibboney said.

“Nameless!” Comedy Season 3 Auditions, 2 p.m., May 4, and 7 p.m., May 7, The Forum, 201 N. Main St., Jamestown, NY.

BuffaloComedySportz

Buffalo ComedySportz is improvisational comedy played as a sport! (If you've ever seen Whose Line Is It Anyway?, you've got the general idea - except, with us, the points do matter!) Two teams of act-letes compete for the biggest laughs while a referee calls the fouls and gets suggestions from you, the audience. Everything we do is improvised. We don't have scripts or pre-planned scenes. That's why a ComedySportz match wouldn't be possible without your suggestions. Just make sure your suggestions are clean, or the referee could call the "Brown Bag Foul" on you, and you'll end up wearing a paper bag over your head. ComedySportz, found in twenty cities across the US and UK, is light-hearted insanity that appeals to people from every walk of life. We provide clean, positive entertainment that is guaranteed to please even the toughest crowd. If you have a pulse, it's highly likely that you'll laugh until it hurts. If you don't have a pulse, seek medical attention immediately. Every Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 7pm. www.buffalocsz.com / 716.393.8669 4476 Main St Snyder Square, Amherst NY 14216 Lower Level 4476 Main St Snyder Square, Amherst NY 14216 Corner of Main St and Harlem Rd, please use the Harlem Rd entrance.
